RULES OF THE VI SHORT EXPRESS CONTEST "ROBERTO PÉREZ TOLEDO"

24th Lanzarote International Film Festival.

 

AIM

This contest aims to promote short films as a means of expression, contributing to their recognition, dissemination, and valuing them as an essential means of transmitting culture. We also aim to encourage the creation of works made by a team or authors, without the intervention of production companies or distributors, and for which a low budget is not an impediment to telling a good story.

INSCRIPTION

Participation is free and open. Both professionals and film fans can participate, individually or in teams. Teams can be formed in advance or formed throughout the contest. The initial meeting will be on Monday, May 13 at 7:30 p.m. in the Buñuel room of the CIC "El Almacén" in Arrecife. From that moment the contest will begin.

If any of the participants is a minor, they must have the authorization of their father/mother or legal guardian. The authorization will be available for printing on the website. Participants must send the copy to the festival organization at the time of registration.

Participants will be summoned on Monday, May 13 at 7:30 p.m. in the Buñuel room of the CIC EL Almacén in Arrecife to provide them with the theme and particular rules of the contest, which will not come to light until then, and which corresponds to a technical, aesthetic or narrative requirement, which will be mandatory to ensure that the shorts have been shot according to the standards.

There is total freedom over the genre, with an essential requirement that it be filmed in Lanzarote between May 13 and 19, 2024.

Works may not exceed 4 minutes in length, credits included.

All works in competition must be submitted on Sunday, May 19 between 9:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. at a location that will be communicated on the day of the presentation. No short film will be accepted after the scheduled time.

The works will be accompanied by a poster of their short film that will be delivered along with it.

The organization will provide a short video that must be included at the beginning of the short film.

AWARDS

The prizes will consist of a statuette and the following cash prizes:

 

First prize for best short film, worth 800 euros.


Second prize worth 500 euros.


Third prize worth 300 euros


Fourth prize worth 150 euros


Special prize 'LESS THAN 20', worth 250 euros. (To be eligible for this award, all members of the team must be under 20 years of age, with the exception of actors and actresses who will have no age limit).

 

All financial prizes will be subject to the withholdings stipulated by law.

AWARDS DELIVERY GALA

The jury's decision will be made public at the awards ceremony to be held on Sunday, May 19, 2024, after the screening of the short films that will begin at 7:00 p.m. at the Multicines Atlántida in Arrecife.

The participating short films will be screened before the public during the awards gala.

JURY

The jury will be appointed by the organization of the Contest among people related to cinema and culture and its composition will be made public at the awards ceremony.

GENERAL

Those registered in the contest will transfer the rights to screen the works to the Festival, which reserves the right to publish them, with the sole requirement of mentioning their authors.

Each short film will be delivered along with a registration sheet that will be given to participants at 8:00 p.m. on the day of the start (Monday, May 13, 2024) and which must be duly completed. No short film is considered delivered if this registration sheet is not attached.

The short films submitted must be completely original and unpublished, both in the script and in the images or music that can be used. You can use catalog music, as long as it is completely free of copyright. The organization is not responsible for possible copyright infringements.

The following delivery formats will be prioritized, with the organization reserving the right not to screen short films not presented in these formats:

 

H264 in MP4 or mov (1920×1080)

Apple ProRes (1920x1080)

The organization of the Contest will provide Technical Support available to participants.

The festival reserves the right to screen short films based on the organization's criteria.

The jury may declare one or more prizes of this contest void if it considers that the works do not meet the requirements of originality, creativity and quality.
