Irene Silvera

She’s a film programmer who recently graduated from the National Film and Television School in England. She studied film at the Bologna University and later graduated in film direction at the Artes TAI University Centre in Madrid. She currently takes part in several film festivals as a short film programmer and organises short films and cycles and screenings in London. Her work as a programmer mainly focuses on Eastern and South Eastern cinema, with specific interest in Japanese cinema and female filmmakers.

In 2017 she curated and delivered ‘Archipelago: Exploring the Landscape of Japanese Contemporary Women Filmmakers’ in London, in collaboration with the Embassy of Japan in the UK and the Japan Foundation. That same year, she collaborated with the Korean Cultural Centre in programming and coordinating a season of six films titled ‘On Foreign Ground: Visions of Migration’.
