A total of 3,191 short film directors from 116 nationalities have participated in The 2019 Lanzarote International Film Festival short film contest, an annual event dedicated to short films and audiovisual culture organised by Fisme Producciones and the Cabildo of Lanzarote, through their Cultural Area.
This year, the FICL has beaten its own participation and number of different nationalities records. In the short International Fiction films category we received 1,704 films. Short National Fiction films was the second category with more entries (622 works), followed by short Documentary films (460), short Animation films (359) and the regained category short Canarian Films (46).
Since last October, a selection committee comprised by experts from cultural and cinema spheres have been watching those 3,191 films. After debating technical and artistic aspects, they have decided to bring forward an Official Selection consisting of 91 short films that the audience will be able to enjoy from May 10th up to May 18th.
