Verónica Echegui

Madrid, 1983. She studied with John Strasberg, Fernando Piernas and Jesús Aladrén, at the Royal Higher Education Drama School in Madrid (RESAD). She started her career with short films (“El álbum blanco”, “Intrusos”, “Mi aire”, “Siete escalones”), until the audience and the critics discovered her with Bigas Luna in “Yo soy la Juani” (Sant Jordi award for Best Actress, nominated for a Goya and the Actors Union as Best Newcomer Actress). She won the Silver Biznaga for Best Supporting Actress at the Malaga Festival for “El menor los males”. She was nominated for her role in “El patio de mi cárcel” at the Goya Awards. Her career continued with “La mitad de Óscar” with Manuel Martín Cuenca; “Verbo”, with Eduardo Chapero-Jackson and “Seis puntos sobre Emma”, with filmmaker from Lanzarote Roberto Pérez Toledo (Silver Biznaga in Malaga).

She worked in “Katmandú” directed by Icíar Bollaín, “Un espejo en el cielo” (Gaudí Award for Best Actress and nominations at the Goya Awards yet again). Her work in “La gran familia española” was also nominated at the Actors’ Union and Feroz Awards. She featured in “No culpes al karma de lo que te pasa por gilipollas”, “La niebla y la doncella” and the successful TV series “Apaches”. Her career is quite international: she filmed in Mexico, “Me estás matando Susana” with Gael García Bernal; “The hunter´s prayer”, directed by Jonathan Mostow (“Los sustitutos”, “Terminator 3”) and “Trust”, a Danny Boyle series for HBO featuring alongside Donald Sutherland and Hilary Swank.
